About Prof. Dr. Hacı Kara

Prof. Dr. Hacı Kara is an academician, legal expert, and author conducting academic research in Maritime Commercial Law, Commercial Law, Insurance Law, Corporate Law, Transport Law, Medical Law, and International Trade Law. He currently serves as the Head of the Maritime Law Department at Istanbul Medeniyet University Faculty of Law. In addition to his academic research, he translates his theoretical expertise into sectoral and practical solutions for legal disputes.

Education and Academic Career

Prof. Dr. Hacı Kara graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Law in 1990. He completed his master's degree in 1994 at Marmara University Institute of Social Sciences, Department of Private Law, with his thesis titled "Rights and Obligations of Partners in Limited Liability Companies."

In 2004, he earned his Ph.D. degree in Law from Marmara University with his dissertation titled "Legal Liability for Damage Caused by Vessel-Sourced Marine Pollution According to International Conventions and Turkish Law." This work offers a comprehensive analysis of marine environmental law, international conventions, and compensation law.

In 2018, he received the title of Associate Professor in Commercial Law with his thesis titled "Carrier's Liability for Loss, Damage, or Delay Under the Rotterdam Rules." He has served as a visiting researcher at the University of Southampton School of Law and as a visiting lecturer at Yildiz Technical University Faculty of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. He continues his academic work at Istanbul Medeniyet University Faculty of Law.
